Cleveland painter Tricia Kaman, whose longtime studio in the Murray Hill Schoolhouse in Little Italy is almost always open during the Little Italy Art Walks, is known for her striking portraiture that captures people’s humanity and individualism with a singular warmth. She’s especially known for her insightful portrait of women in their quiet, reflective moments, something that’s engaged her for more than 40 years.
In addition to the work on display in her studio, it’s been seen all over town at places such as Ursuline College’s Wasmer Gallery and the Gallery at Lakeland Community College as well as New York City. And her business, Kaman’s Art Shoppes trains artists who work at amusement parks and zoos throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Tricia has some big news: she was just named the Ohio Governor’s Awards for the Arts winner in the “individual artist” category which also gives awards in category such as arts educator, arts patron and arts administrator. There’ll be a winners’ ceremony in Columbus on May 17, 2023.
