In just a few weeks, northeast Ohio’s alt country/Americana band The Shootouts will be releasing their brand-new album Stampede, a follow-up to their April 2021 sophomore release Bullseye, a top ten Americana album, which opened a lot of doors for the band, including opportunities to tour and open for many national artists including Sheryl Crow, Chris Isaac and Steve Earle. They attracted the attention of Asleep at the Wheel’s Ray Benson, who co-produced Stampede with Sam Seifert.
The new album, recorded here in Northeast Ohio, features a raft of special guests including Benson and Asleep at the Wheel, Marty Stuart, Buddy Miller, Raul Malo and Jim Lauderdale. And while the bulk of the album is band originals, they tip their hat to their roots with a cover of Michael Stanley’s “I’ll Never Need Anyone More.”
The album’s official release date is February 24, the same day the band will be playing at the Grand Ol’ Opry House in Nashville before hitting the road for a national tour. But they’re having a tour kickoff concert this week to preview their set at Jilly’s Music room in Akron. Grab tickets here.
