Photographer Lori Kella Talks at the Akron Art Museum

Thu 12/15 @ 6-8PM

Cleveland photographer Lori Kella’s work is deceptive. At first you might not be sure what you’re looking at. Peer closer and you see landscapes emerge — but they’re not real landscapes: she’s created miniature worlds with bits and pieces of things that she then photographs. Much of her work is oblique commentary on the natural environment and what we’re doing to it.

Her work is part of the Akron Art Museum’s current show State of the Art: Constructs, a group show featuring work by 21 artists focusing on “concepts of planet, place, and self,” addressing such issues as global conflict, climate change and personal identity.

Kella will join curator Jeff Katzin at the museum for a talk, sharing some background into her work and how it’s created, as well as State of the Art: Constructs and how her work fits into it. Join them for coffee, refreshments and enlightenment. It’s free.
