Get them while they’re young! While 45-year-old rappers and 76-year-old ex-presidents may have closed minds to other cultures and faiths, children are often hungry to learn more about other people and eager to embrace intriguing customs and cultures they may not have been born into.
Holiday Happiness: A Multicultural Celebration at the Maltz Museum is aimed at them. Families are invited to come and enjoy music, art, theater and literature from various northeast Ohio cultural organizations sharing their winter traditions. The Mandel JCC’s Playmaker’s Youth Theater will perform a Hanukkah story, Antioch Baptist Church’s youth choir will offer Christmas songs and poetry, and the youth of Chagrin Valley Islamic Center will provide readings about peace.
In addition Horovitz YouthAbility, which provides jobs and volunteer opportunities for disabled and at-risk youth, will share thoughts about kindness, and there’ll be a multi-cultural story corner as well.
It’s free with registration. Go here to register.
