The 3rd annual Cleveland Photo Fest is wrapping up this weekend. But you have one last chance to see the hundreds of photos by local professional and student photographers, as well as the panels created as part of its One Million Photos project. And the closing reception, dubbed “Fashion Meets Photographer,” is going to be a uniquely special event.
It started with a request put to Cleveland-based photography and model manager, Jackie Bertolette, who publishes a statewide quarterly fashion magazine called Haute Ohio, to create outfits out of the panels featuring thumbnail-sized images of all the photos submitted for CPF’s One Million Photos initiative. That was expanded to include other paper-based photo prints, which she and her team fashioned into designs for women, a man and a dog to model at the reception. It’s described as “a runway extravaganza of wearable artistry constructed with, from or inspired by local and international photographers and their photographs.”
Following a short fashion show, the outfits will be auctioned off. There’ll also be music by local folk-pop quartet, the Prom Queens. Cleveland’s tallest drag queen Veranda L’Ni, well known for her drag bingo and drag queen story nights, will be hosting.
The event takes place at the Bostwick Design Art Initiative gallery where the Cleveland Photo Fest is currently on view, covering all five rooms with work reflecting myriads aspects of the local photography scene. It’s free and open to the public.
