Rubber City Theatre, which offers affordable, accessible productions for audiences in Akron, is tossing out a short-un holiday treat: a live musical production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, based on the 1954 film White Christmas, set in 1944, which takes a nostalgic look back at the World War II era. It revolves around a song-and-dance team (Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye) who meet a pair of performing sisters and after a series of mishaps and misunderstandings, all ends happily with a holiday performance at a quaint New England Inn. It Capitalized on the title song, introduced in the 1942 film Holiday Inn, which made the Bing Crosby-sung version one of the biggest hits of all time.
Irving Berlin’s White Christmas adds such Irving Berlin classics as “How Deep Is the Ocean,” “Blue Skies and “I Love a Piano.” The show will have just three performances at Akron’s Goodyear Theater. Tickets ranges from $20-$50. Get them here.
