Sat 11/19-Sat 12/31
Each year the Cleveland Botanical Garden dons holiday finery for a display of lights, trees, plants and gingerbread guaranteed to make any drab winter day less dreary.
This year’s event is dubbed Twinkle in the 216, and as the name implies lights are at the heart of it, with everything (including CBG’s Madagascar and Costa Rica biospheres lit up. The 20-foot “living tree” made from live and dried plant materials will be positioned in the Ellipse to greet visitors. And this year’s event will add something special: vignettes of Cleveland landmarks along with vignettes of Madagascar and Costa Rica in their areas.
Poinsettias in red, pink and white and evergreens will line the indoor spaces, and once again there’ll be trees decorated by area garden clubs and elaborate gingerbread houses designed and created by local bakers. The terrace will be festively decorated as well for those who can tolerate little cold.
And on weekends, as well as from December 20-31 (except Christmas Day), there’ll be outdoor activities there including hot cocoa story time, marshmallow roasting and crafts. On Sundays December 11 and 18 you can buy an additional ticket to have breakfast with Santa.
