Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, Congressman Tim Ryan, came to Cleveland’s UAW Hall to fire up union workers and their family and friends to get out and turn out the vote in the campaign’s final days. He brought along his wife Andrea, an elementary school teacher, and was introduced by Ohio’s current Democratic Senator, Sherrod Brown, following a parade of area organizers who shared their enthusiasm.
Ryan’s speech focused mainly on the theme he’s built his entire campaign on: “Workers First.” He’s consistently foregrounded the needs of average Ohioans, whether their right to form a union or a woman’s right not to fall into poverty by having children she can’t afford to car for properly. He talked about his own background and how his own grandfather helped build the Catholic elementary school he attended.
And while he didn’t talk a lot about his opponent, of whom Trump said “I like him because he kisses my ass,” he did point out that Vance is basically being sponsored by billionaire Peter Thiel to whom he presumably would be answerable if he won.
Don’t forget to vote November 8. Ohio voters should pick their senator, not billionaire.
