The Lake Erie Building in Lakewood, aka the Screw Factory, still has manufacturing businesses on its first floor. But its second and third floor corridors are lined with studios of artists and craftspeople, yoga and dance facilities, small shops, and other creative businesses.
Several times a year, the Screw Factory artists host art & craft shows/open studios when people can drop in to visit and shop. And their Fall Open House, with two days to check out both resident and visiting artists, is this weekend. Some of the resident artists whose doors will be open include Gina DeSantis’ ceramics student, jewelry maker Anne Creed, painters Karen Jewell-Kett and Sam Francazio, and printmaker Phyllis Fannin, about two dozen in all, and some will have guest artists in their studios. The Templar Room event space will host two dozen more, who’ll be bringing jewelry, photography, textiles, paintings and illustrations, pottery, leather and glass art, Ukrainian pysanky eggs and food.
The event is free and open to the public. And there’s plenty of free parking.
