KINK Contemporary, formerly located at 78th Street Studios, is the new kid on the block in the Waterloo Arts District, opening just this summer in the former Photocentric Space. But they’ve hit the ground running.
For their second show in the space, called Sculptural Imprints, they’re featuring the work of seven artists who expand the boundaries of printmaking beyond the usual two-dimensional work on paper. Artists include Patricia Brett, Emmy Bright, Kat Burdine, Leigh Garcia, Susanna Harris, Taryn McMahon, and Maddie McSweeney.
“Whether the artists utilize impressions to create objects, installations, or embossed surfaces, this group exhibition showcases artists exploring texture and the third dimension within their printmaking practices,” says the gallery’s press release. In addition, says the gallery, “Their works explore important issues such as grief, queer identity, bi-racial family histories, and the environment. Together they question what defines a print.”
The show will open with a reception Friday October 6 @ 5-9pm and will remain on view through Friday December 2.
