County Executive Candidates Take Part in Forum About Transportation Policies

Thu 10/13 @ 6:30PM

Bike Cleveland’s mission isn’t limited to advocating for bicyclists. The nonprofit aims to push for a transportation system and streets designed for everyone, not just cars.

They’ll be joining with Clevelanders for Public Transit (CPT) to host county executive candidates Democrat Chris Ronayne and Republican Lee Weingart to talk about their transportation policies in a forum called I Bike, I Ride Transit, I VOTE: A Conversation with County Executive Candidates, taking place at Goldhorn Brewery.

CPT and Bike Cleveland organizers will moderate the forum, which will include audience questions. All questions will address areas in which the county executive can influence transportation policy such as choosing the next Greater Cleveland RTA board member, overseeing Cuyahoga Greenways Plan, and other areas that affect people who rely on bicycles and public transit.

“We look forward to hearing the candidates’ plans for how to ensure all Cuyahoga County residents can navigate our region safely and comfortably, no matter how they get around,” says Jenna Thomas, Bike Cleveland’s Advocacy & Policy Manager. “These kinds of conversations ensure that our members can be informed & engaged voters — a priority of ours at Bike Cleveland.”

Attendees (and candidates Chris Ronayne & Lee Weingart) are encouraged to arrive by transit or bike. While the brewery is located off the #1 and #3 bus routes, that can be hard given Cleveland bus schedule frequency and how close to a bus line someone’s home is located!
