Sewer District’s Clean Water Fest Is Back at Wastewater Treatment Plant

Sat 9/17 @ 9AM-4PM

Like many events, NEORSD’s Clean Water Fest has been missing in action since 2019. Now it’s back for those who want to learn more about how the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District provides the region with clean drinking water and protects its source.

It offers walking tours of the largest wastewater treatment plan in Ohio, the Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant in Cuyahoga Heights, with 45-minute tours leaving every 15 minutes from 9:30am-3:30pm (wear hard-sole, closed-toe shoes), along with guided tours of the laboratory.

The educational aspect of the event is eye-opening but it’s got a fun side too.  There’ll be more than 60 exhibit booths with games and prizes, the Matt the Mad Scientist live science show at 11am and 1pm, Zygote Press screenprinting T-shirts and posters while supplies last, a Touch the Truck opportunity, a balloon artist, arts and crafts, a Kids’ Zone with hands-on activities, food truck, free ice cream and popcorn and gift bags for everyone. And if the kids are still “meh” after all that, let them know: YES! There IS face painting too!

The event is all free, and there’s a free shuttle to and from the parking area as well.
