Local boys Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes were booked to play a show at Stone Poony’s outdoor Summer Stage across from the boardwalk in Asbury Park on July 4 weekend. Alas, a thunderstorm rolled in and spoiled those plans. But they rebooked for Labor Day weekend when they performed a 2 1/2 hour show to a full house of enthusiastic fans, mixing new tunes, classics and covers in a show driven by a five-piece horn section and vocalist John Lyon’s typically passionate, no-holds-barred performance.
