While the 40th Anniversary Metal on Metal shows at the Maple Grove this weekend are both sold out, we just wanted to take time to congratulate Bill Peters, host of the Metal on Metal program on the John Carroll University radio station WJCU 88.7FM on his long-running show.

As any metal fan in Cleveland knows, Bill and his weekly show have been essentially to the area’s deep and lively metal scene. In the 80s, he founded Auburn Records, which spawned such bands as Shok Paris, Breaker, Destructor, Purgatory and Hatrix and created a scene that produced other bands such as Environmental Hazzard, Mystik, the Spudmonsters and the masked monsters of Cleveland metal, Mushroomhead.

You can listen to Bill’s Metal on Metal program every Friday @ 6:30-9:30pm, a mixture of classic and new metal with a heavy emphasis on independent labels and import. Along with familiar names (often represented by live or obscure tracks), you’re almost sure to hear some terrific band (maybe from Greece or Azerbaijan) you didn’t know existed.

Listen here.
