This week, CoolCleveland points you to a bunch of cool events where you can chill out, enjoy the vibe, meet new people and engage voters on the key issues we face in the upcoming November election. Help folks get registered, educate ourselves on the issues, and make new friends?
Wednesday, September 14: Weekday Parma Canvass– Wear your walking shoes & join us knocking on doors and talking with Parma community members about the Democratic candidates on the ballot. Please download the “MiniVAN Touch” app to your smartphone before arriving. There will be a short training on how to use this canvassing app before the canvass begins.
Wednesday, September 14: Club Meeting with Tony Greenfield– Join State Rep. candidate Troy Greenfield and fellow activists for a conversation at the Strongsville Club Meeting. Learn about our community’s organizing plans in Strongsville for the 2022 election! We’ll be meeting at the Strongsville Library. There will be a social at 6:30pm and the meeting will begin at 7pm.
Thursday, September 15: Super Awesome Voter Registration at Cleveland State University– Come on down every Thursday at 3-6pm to register students to vote at Cleveland State University! You’re gonna need a clip board and a pen (will be supplied) to get the most students to the polls this November. All are welcome and make sure to bring a friend to the fun!
Saturday, September 17: Garfield Heights Meet & Greet– Garfield Heights Ward 4 Councilman Avery Johnson is hosting a neighborhood meet and greet with Mayor Matt Burke, School Board President Nichelle Daniels, School Superintendent Dr. Richard Reynolds, endorsed Democratic House District 18 Candidate Darnell Brewer and other city officials. Come meet your local electeds and local candidates. While you’re here, you can also talk to a Worker’s First Organizer about completing a vote by mail ballot request form. It’s so important to make sure that your voice is heard in the upcoming election.
Saturday, September 17: Ward 13 Canvassing– Come and Volunteer with us to Canvass for the excellent 2022 candidates! This week we will be going door to door of undecided and leaning voters in Ward 13, and seeing who they will be voting for in the upcoming election. Along with that, we will be passing out literature for each candidate we will be endorsing for this November. We will be asking you to knock between 30-40 doors each for this shift. Access to a car would be beneficial, however not mandatory. We can’t wait to see you there!
Saturday, September 17: House Party and Meet & Greet with Darnell Brewer, Candidate for Ohio House District 18– Come get to know Ohio House District 18 Candidate Darnell Brewer. There’s so much for us to discuss from voting rights, safety, school funding and the many other issues that we face. Event hosted by Marissa Clark.
Saturday, September 17 & Sunday, September 18: Door to Door in Broadview Heights with Richard Dell’Aquila– Wear your walking shoes and join us knocking on doors and talking with Broadview Heights community members about the Democratic candidates on the ballot. Saturday, September 17 & Sunday, September 18: Door to Door in Kent with the Workers First Campaign– Come knock doors to turn out the vote for Tim Ryan, State Representative Candidate Kathleen Clyde, and the Ohio Democrats! Please bring a charged phone and download the MiniVAN app beforehand, if possible.
Sunday, September 18: Garfield Heights Weekend Canvass– Come out and join the Workers First Campaign and knock doors in Garfield Heights! We’ll be out on Saturdays and Sundays up until the election to canvass and make sure people know about the right candidates up and down the ballot who they’ll be voting for.
Tuesday, September 20: National Voter Registration Day: East Cleveland Library– Join your neighbors at the East Cleveland Library as we celebrate National Voter Registration Day! We will register voters, supply vote by mail applications and provide voting information. We will also help voters -Check registration status -Locate appropriate polling locations -Develop an “I Will Vote” plan
