If you think you missed the Waterloo Arts Festival, which traditionally took place in late June, don’t panic. It’s just a little late this year.
But it will be the same great festival, spanning three blocks of the Waterloo Arts District, with things to appeal to neighbors and visitors, kid and adults, and of course, art lovers and music lovers since the Beachland Ballroom is the heart of the district, centering a streetful of galleries and creative businesses.
There will be seven stages of music, offering virtually every genre you can think of, from classical to punk. It will be the final weekend to see the local art stars featured at the CAN Triennial, at Waterloo Arts, Praxis Fiber Workshop, Brick + Mortar and Bill Busta Projects, as well as exhibits at Framed, Kink Gallery and Space: ROCK. And all along the street there’ll be artisan and artist vendors, street performers, booths from community organizations and government agencies (you can register to vote!), hands-on art making opportunities and food trucks.
And tel the kids to put on their swim suits: the famous Water Moose, a sort of giant lawn sprinkler for running through and playing in, will be there.
The festival is free and open to all.
