Susan Danko’s “Night Forest” Paintings Reflect on Multiple Facets of Darkness

Fri 8/5 @ 5-8PM

Cleveland-based artist Susan Danko’s latest paintings offer a look at a natural world that’s simultaneously serene and energized

“During the pandemic, I got in the habit of sitting on my deck at night thinking about life and death,” she says. “I found solace in watching the sunset and observing nature’s transition to darkness. I was inspired by the color of the summer sky at night and found it interesting to look at a familiar landscape in such a different state.

She calls her series Night Forest, “a meditation on darkness as a part of life.” It’s designed to be site-specific at Deep Dive Art Projects’ intimate upstairs viewing room, where visitors can sit with them for a while. They’ll go on view during Walk All Over Waterloo, Friday August 5 and remain through the end  of August.
