Sat 8/27 @ 10AM
The Akron Pride Festival, which launched in 2017 and has grown exponentially, returns to downtown Akron this Saturday for a gala event that starts early in the morning and goes on well into the evening.
It starts at 10am with the sixth annual Akron Equity March, which steps off from in front of Spaghetti Warehouse at 10 am and marches down Main Street to Lock 3 where the festival is taking place (along with adjoining Lock 4 and Cascade Plaza.)
There’ll be two stages of nonstop entertainment — bands, dancers, DJs, drag artists — with DJ Nick Duva kicking things off on the Lock 3 Stage at 10am. And over at Cascade Plaza, there’ll be DJs spinning music all day.
Food and drink will be available, of course, and there’ll be booths from organizations such as Rock & Recovery, along with vendors of all types. And be sure to bring the kids. From noon-3pm the Pride Kids’ Zone will be going on, with inflatables and other fun activities. The event closes in with a flourish: fireworks at 10pm. It’s free and open to all who embrace equal rights for everybody. That includes pets! (Must be leashed.)
