The Feast of the Assumption, popularly known as “The Feast,” is Cleveland’s oldest continues festival, dating back 122 years. Technically, it celebrates the day Mary, mother of Jesus, ascended into heaven. And that’s always celebrated on August 15, with a solemn mass followed by a parade that floods through the streets of Cleveland’s Little Italy, that combines religious observance and Italian pride.
But the multi-day feast is also about eating, drinking and making merry and plenty of that precedes and follows the procession with the neighborhood’s multitude of Italian eateries setting up booths along Mayfield Road. Eating lunch sitting on the curb has never been this much fun. Wear comfortable shoes!
