Splashy (and expensive) theme parks are fine and all, but you can find lower-key and lower-cost summer fun in Geneva-on-the-Lake, where families mix with the bikers in Harley-Davidson gear who have made GOTL their headquarters for decades. While many businesses, especially bars, display signs saying “bikers welcome,” the pizza joints, donut and candy shops, mini-golf and old-fashioned arcades keep kids entertained. And the Cove has been presenting rock bands and other entertainment since the early 60s.
There’s been some updating — the shoreline in the city park was recently upgraded as the slope was falling into the water — bu so much remains the same. You know you’re going to see at leas one Guns N’ Roses t-shirt as you stroll The Strip.
