Sat 8/27 @ 10AM-4PM
Summer is coming to an end so don’t waste another day before enjoying the region’s watery assets. The Doan Brook Watershed Partnership is giving people of all ages a variety of ways to do so at its 10th annual Take to the Lake Day at Lower Shaker Lake.
You can get on the lake for some paddling, takes guided hikes along lakeside trails, or enjoy a yoga class or live music on the banks of the lake. Beginners can take a kayak lesson open to everyone over the age of 7; kids must be accompanied by an adult. There will also be kayak rental from 10am-4pm, but you’re also welcome to bring your own kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard — be sure to have lifejackets for all who take to the water.
For those who prefer dry land, there’ll be activities taking place over at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, including a Shaker Lakes History Hike at 11am and 2pm; a yoga class at 11am and a live performance by old-timey/bluegrass ensemble Spyder Stompers and Sugar Pie from 1-4pm
Some events have a fee and advance registeration online is recommended for everything. Go to doanbrookpartnership.org/boat/.
