Fri 9/2-Sun 9/4
Who doesn’t love pizza? College students would probably die without it. (Ever been to a small college town and seen that every other business is a pizza shop?)
For three days, you can stop by downtown Akron’s Lock 3 where Akron Pizzafest will be hosting its 3rd annual event, and try pizzas from a bunch of local vendors, either full pies or slices if you’d like to do a comparison thing, and find your favorite Whether you like vegetables, sausage, anchovies or even something more exotic, it’ll probably be offered somewhere.
Pizzafest will kick off during lunch time (11am-1pm) Friday September 2 for those that just work in the area and would like to check it out. Then it opens for a full festival at 5-11pm and continues Saturday from noon-11pm and Sunday at noon-6:30pm. During those times, there’ll be a kids’ zone with inflatable, cornhole (including an informal — unsanctioned — cornhole tournament), giant jenga, bocce, live music and a pizza-eating contest. On Saturday there’ll even be fireworks.
Except for Friday’s lunch hour, which is free, adult admission is $5; admission with college ID is $3 (should be free; they keep pizza places in business!); ages 13-17 is $2 and 12 and under is free. Go here for more information.
