This weekend, downtown Kent downtown Kent becomes a tribute to all things magical, with the return of its two-day Wizardly Weekend. The entire city is taking part, with magic-themed specials at restaurants, window displays in downtown businesses, and special wizardly merchandise in stores, along with a host of special activities.
On Friday night, there’s the 6th annual Run That Shall Not Be Named 5 ¾ fun run across the Kent state campus and a “Wobbly Wizard” bar crawl for the grown-ups. The next day they can bring the kids for activities such as wand-making, a “Sorcery Stone” hunt, costume contests, photos ops with Harry the Black Squirrel (the Kent mascot), magical miniature golf, origami art, and a community painting project. There’s a screening of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at the Kent Stage at 1pm.
The day culminates with the Bell Tower Ball Saturday evening at 7:30pm at the Kent Stage where guest are invited to dress in style to go to the Magic School.
