Painesville Party in the Park Is Back with a Full Weekend of Free Music

Fri 7/15-Sun 7/17

Painesville’s Party in the Park, which they have long claimed to be Ohio’s largest free music festival, is finally back at full scale for one three-day weekend (Last year, they did “Party in the Park Lite,” a series of monthly single days of music.)

More than 30 acts are on the bill, in a wide range of genres including rock, folk, reggae, jazz, funk, Latin, soul, country, jam and bluegrass. They’re mostly locals, both new artists and those with a significant following, with a smattering of touring acts from across the country.

Top-notch local acts include veteran folk singer/songwriters Alex Bevan & Steve Madewell, new-generation folk singer/songwriter Tom Evanchuck, Latin guitarist Justo Saborit, the Brit rock of Guy Snowdon & the Citizens, Soul Shake & the Eastside Horns’ blue-eyed soul, Americana/alt rockers The RailShakers, theatrical rockers Apostle Jones, the bluesy singer/guitarist Taylor Lamborn and the guitar-oriented rock of the Michael Weber Show.

Former Michael Stanley/Resonators guitarist Danny Powers leads in The Heartland, which brings alive again the legacy of local rock star Stanley, while guitarist Carl Baldessarre does his “Led Zeppelin Revival” which is packing local clubs.

You can check out several interesting-sounding out-of-town acts as well: Florida’s Damon Fowler plays blues rock; the Probables from upstate New York play “folkcana”/roots rock; and Nic Walker brings “Key West country” from … Nashville?

The event also offers food, drink, vendors and a kids’ area.
