The second CAN Triennial opened on July 8,with the FRONT International Triennial opening a week later.
Both debuted in 2018 (and were delayed a year due to the pandemic) with the CAN event taking advantage of the high-profile FRONT Triennial to supplement its array of mostly national and international artists with a showcase for local and regional artists and to show visitors that Cleveland has its own flourishing creative scene.
Michael Gill, the editor/publisher of CAN Journal, which spawned the CAN Triennial, and Fred Bidwell, funder of FRONT, will talk about this synergy in a conversation at moCa Cleveland, moderated by SPACES executive director Tizziana Baldenbro. That conversation, dubbed CAN x FRONT, will look at the ways in which they are collaborating and complementing each other, how each impacts the local creative community, and what we can expect from them in the future.
The program is free. For more information and to register go to artistsarchives.org.
