The Yards Project typically fills the lobby gallery of the Worthington Yards Apartments in the Warehouse District with a rotating series of exhibits, featuring the work of both established local art stars and artists on the rise.
Its annual Plein Air event is a little different. “Plein air” painting is landscape painting done outdoors, in nature. This event takes place in the restored courtyard of the building, where local artists paint and visitors can watch or bring their own drawing materials and join them. There’ll be live music and hot dogs on the grill. Bring a chair and spend the afternoon; make some time to drop in the indoor gallery to check out its current show, Illustrious Gravitas, in which 11 mostly local artists use cartoon-style art to focus on serious subjects. It’s free to attend. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled.
