CMNH’s Perkins Wildlife Center Welcomes Two New Otters

Animal lovers were saddened to hear about the unexpected death of Hobbes, one of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History Perkins Wildlife Center’s three resident river otters, earlier this spring, leaving his pals Linus and Calvin.

But now there’s good news: the Perkins Wildlife Center is now home to two new river otters: Atticus and Emmett, both males estimated to be around five years old. They’re currently getting used to their new surroundings and will alternate being on view to visitors with Linus and Calvin.

As CMNH /president CEO Sonia Winner says, in what is a colossal understatement, “With their playful personalities, they are sure to engage and delight our visitors.”

This is good news for otter lovers who were thrilled to learn about the return of North American river otters to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, but weren’t into getting up at dawn, the best time to see them in the wild. You can see them at CMNH Tuesday-Sunday @ 10am-5pm. The Perkins Wildlife Center is included with regular admission.
