Cleveland’s BlueWater Chamber Orchestra will be playing its next concert at Church of the Covenant, a historic church in on the Case Western Reserve campus in University Circle.
The orchestra’s artist director Daniel Meyer will conduct a program that’s headlined by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D Major, a work it describes as having a “bold, inspired, and adventurous spirit [that] expresses a cheerful enthusiasm, demonstrating the composer’s strength and resolve to seize the day despite the many negative obstacles.”
Beethoven isn’t the only beloved composer on the bill. It will also feature Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D, with Jessica Sindell as the flute soloist. The program opens with “With the Heather and Small Birds” by contemporary Welsh composer Hilary Tann.
But there’s more! Performing at Church of the Covenant means that they can schedule a free pre-concert performance on the church’s McGaffin Carillon, played by Keiran Cantilina. You can listen from your car or bring a blanket or lawn chair and sit on the lawns around the church tower.
