Waterloo & the City of Euclid Host Annual Trash Pickup Contest

Sat 4/23 @ 9AM-1PM

Do you get disgusted seeing the amount of trash people throw alongside highways and streets, on sidewalks, in vacant lots, in fact, just about anywhere? Maybe you can’t pick it all up, but you can help get rid of some of it at the annual Big Clean, a competition between Cleveland’s Collinwood neighborhood and the adjacent city of Euclid to see who can pick up more trash: just in time to celebrate Earth Day (April 22).

Anyone can pick a team and join; you don’t have to live in those areas. And all ages are welcome. It all starts just outside Waterloo Arts in the Waterloo Arts District, at the big tower at the corner of Waterloo and East 156th Street. There you can pick up a supply of trash bags, gloves and trash pickers. Then head out on your own or with your team to the pre-designated area you chose when signing up and return at noon to tally your total take.

Afterwards, there’ll be TWO outdoor after parties from noon-1pm: one in Villa Angela St. Joseph High School’s rear parking lot (18491 Lakeshore Blvd) and another at Five Points Community Center cross from Collinwood High School (813 E. 152nd Street). To sign up for the Waterloo team, go here. Sign up to clean for Euclid here.
