Wizbang Theatre, located in Cleveland Heights, has been entertaining northeast Ohio with its variety/circus/vaudeville shows for years. Now that it has its own space, it’s upping its game as far as bringing in other like-minded artists.
This week it’s presenting RagTag: A Circus in Stitches for three shows: one at the Wizbang theater and two at the Coventry PEACE campus. The show was created by Cirque Us, an internationally touring performance group based in New England, with a cast that changes in size and composition. But all its presentations tell coherent stories through circus-style performances such as juggling and aerial acts, as well as music and comedy. It’s been touring the six-performer Ragtag: A Circus in Stitches since 2019, although there haven’t been too many opportunities to perform in the last two years.
“Have you ever stopped to think about the threads which make up the fabric of everyday life?” they say “How sometimes they feel so perfectly knit together, while at other times they feel more like a tangled web of knots? Every fiber has a source, but what prevents it from completely unraveling? Woven together, these loose ends create a new story. Join us as we tell tales of support, fear, friendship, and the connections which inevitably interweave themselves in our lives.”
