It’s almost hard to believe that The Brian Jonestown Massacre has been blending psychedelic realms for over three decades. But the diverse family of fans that filled the Cleveland Agora Theatre and Ballroom in April 7 provided solid proof of their sustainable presence and influence. Seven members lined up on stage and spread a wall of groove that vibrated to every corner of the room.
Since forming in 1990, BJM has recorded at least 30 albums, and rotated at least 40 members, with Anton Newcombe being the only constant. He’s currently joined by Enrique Maymi and Hakon Adalsteinsson on guitars, Uri Rennert on drums, Joel Gion on tambourines, Hallberg Daði Hallbergsson on bass, and Ryan Carlson on keyboards.
BJM have two albums slated for release this year: “Fire Doesn’t Grow on Trees” (May/June) and “The Future is Your Past” (October/November).
This current tour of the U.S. and Canada runs through May 11.
