Fri 4/29-Sat 4/30
Cleveland Heights-based nonprofit Lake Erie Ink, which presents writing workshops and other opportunities aimed primary at youth, is bringing back its popular Giant Bananagrams fundraiser. This year it’s offering both in-person and virtual ways to play over two days.
There’ll be a kickoff event Friday evening, with virtual games taking place all day April 30 where people can play with friends and families in the home and take part in series of Banana Peel challenges offered by Lake Erie Ink staff.
“Here is a time to get creative with your Bananagrams boards and post them to social media throughout the day,” they say. “Share your winning words! Create stories and poems! Prizes will be awarded for top fundraisers and the highest-rated Bananagram boards! If you aren’t the biggest fan of Bananagrams, feel free to play a different game in its place. We can’t wait to see that creativity in action.” Taking part is only $25 for the entire crew. Go here to sign up.
You can also bring a team and play the giant tiles in person at Lake Erie Ink’s space for a $150 donation, which includes a referee, an hour-and-a-half of play and goodies to share. Sign up for a slot here.
The fundraiser concludes Saturday evening @ 7pm. with Dana Norris hosting a storytelling session called “Games People Play.” Admission is $10.
