Fri 4/8 @ 8PM
Akron’s Angie Haze is a distinctive, eclectic performer who isn’t afraid to try something new. The songwriter/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist with the colorful, theatrical image gravitates toward a rhythm-heavy global folk-rock with songs are marked by a confessional, open-hearted passion. Her Angie Haze Project has taken many forms and engaged many other musicians over time and virtually every instrument, providing a huge range of sonic textures.
She’s created a variety of projects, such as series of EPs/videos she released in 2019 under the title May My Stories Be Worn Like Coats. When the pandemic hit, she put together a 12-hour virtual live music marathon, featuring herself, her band and other musicians she’s worked with and streamed from her home studio.
Now she’s back onstage with an experimental sound she’s calling “creep pop,” still drawing on her intense vocals and varied instrumental arrangements. She’ll be at Jilly’s Music Room in Akron this week, with Cleveland singer/songwriter Bethany Joy, whose music encompasses soul, jazz, blues and R&B, opening.
Tickets are $5 in advance, $10 at the door.
