Sun 4/3 @ 3PM
Violinst Andrew Sords has fashioned an international career, including playing with more than 300 orchestras, as well as performing as a soloist and part of a duo and trio, launched right here in northeast Ohio. Growing up in Shaker Heights, he started studying violin at age 6 with Liza Grossman, founder of the Cleveland-based Contemporary Youth Orchestra. He continued his studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Southern Methodist University. The 36-year-old musician currently lives in Chagrin Falls, when he’s not playing in Australia, Poland, Canada or Scotland.
This week he’s back in town to perform at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist downtown with guest artists, pianist Eriko Izumida and violinist Mari Sato, for a program called “Andrew Sords goes Baroque.” He’ll perform works by Giuseppe Tartini, Heinrich Biber, Pietro Locatelli, and J.S. Bach.
The concert is free and there’s free parking in the Cathedral parking lot.
