The Buzzards Come Back to Hinckley — Have Some Pancakes!

Sun 3/20 @ 7AM-2PM

Hinckley Buzzard Day launched as a public event in 1957 based on the date (March 15) that buzzards aka turkey vultures returned each year to the Hinckley Township Metroparks in Medina County. It quickly began attracting hordes of visitors and got to be so big that eventually (in the 70s) the buzzard became the mascot of Cleveland’s powerhouse rock & roll station, WMMS. Soon after it launched, the Hinckley Chamber of Commerce took the idea and ran with it, offering a pancake breakfast at the Hinckley Elementary School each year on the first Sunday after March 15.

The breakfast will take place from 7am-2pm. It’s $10 for adults, $6 for kids. Then you can head over to the Buzzard Roost at the Cleveland Metroparks Hinckley Reservation and do some buzzard-spotting for free. Official Buzzard Spotter Natalie Schroder will tell you where to look.
