While some farmers market in northeast Ohio run throughout the year, including the nonprofit North Union Markets at Crocker Park and in Shaker Heights, now is the time when those markets move to their outdoor locations heralding the coming of spring and an increased amount of locally grown and produced food each week, as new crops get ready for market. All the North Union markets, including the seasonal ones at various locations around the region, feature a selection of carefully vetted producers and growers from Northeast Ohio; nothing is trucked in from a distance so everything is fresh.
The market openings include a blessing, live music, a chef breakfast cooking demo, and the always-entertaining shearing of the sheep, accompanied by storytelling. The Shaker Square Market runs from 8am-noon; the Crocker Park Market hours are 9am-1pm.
