Anyone who’s a fan of jazz, especially Latin jazz, in the Cleveland area, knows Jackie Warren, whose skillfully exuberant piano playing drives the music of Sammy DeLeon’s various ensembles and has been heard with other similar ensembles as well. If you like Latin jazz, it’s easy to hear her than avoid her! She also fronts her own trio with bassist Pete Dominguez and drummer Ron Godale. She’s also on the faculty of The Music Settlement and the Tri-C Jazz Studies program.
She’ll celebrate her birthday at the BOP STOP with a packed evening of music and special guests including DeLeon, trumpeter Scott McKee and percussionist Miguel Cuni. Tickets to be in the room are $15. You can also livestream it on the BOP STOP’s Facebook page for free, although you can also make a donation here.
Yes, it’s St. Patrick’s Day but the crowd is likely to be less drunk than elsewhere — and maybe even having more fun!
