Sat 3/5 @ 4-8PM
Last year the Akron Art Museum hosted a series of evenings called Midwinter Tunes.
This year, they’re gathering it all together in one big event, taking place in the lobby, the galleries and outdoor in the Bud & Susie Rogers Garden in a heated tent, with live music acts, visual artists, an ice carver, special lighting, food trucks and a pop-up film from nearby Nightlife Cinema.
There’ll be music every half hour with the Akron Recording company, starting at 4pm with the bluesy Buffalo Ryders; followed by folk/pop Lea Marra & the Dream Catchers; dreamy lo-fi rocker Matt Kurtz; trip-hop by Chanelle Kazadi; indie rockers The Katy; veteran hip-hop ensemble Muamin Collective; and brass-driven Akron funk/soul/jazz group Nathan Paul & the Admirables. You’ll find attractions such as the 360 Photo Booth, Chef Gina’s Bakery, Elizabeth’s Bookshop & Writing Centre, tours of the museum’s new show, Responsibility to Reveal: 30 Years of The Knight Purchase Award for Photographic Media, and for the grown-ups, two indoor bars.
The event is free.
