The Short. Sweet. Film Fest Is Back at the Alex Theater for Five Days

Wed 2/23-Sun 2/27

The Short. Sweet. Film Fest returns live and in person to the Alex Theatre at the Metropolitan at the 9 downtown with five days of film screenings and other events. The short independent films it shows come from all over the world — and right here in northeast Ohio.

It kicks off on Wednesday February 23 @ 7-10pm with the first batch of films, Q&As with the filmmakers and a networking/social event. On Thursday February 24 @ 7-10pm, student filmmakers get the spot light at Short. Sweet=, a program that shows certain films in a “reduced sensory environment.” That evening also includes filmmaker Q&As and a networking event, as does the Friday February 25 7-10pm screenings.

On Saturday February 26, it’s a long day, with doors opening at 10am and screenings running from 11am-11pm, with comedy, animation, music videos, animal films, drama, horror and LGBTQ+ subjects, divided into three programs, grouping different types of films.

Finally, on Sunday February 27, doors open at 10am for a day that spotlights local filmmakers, documentaries and the “Best of the Fest” film competition. They tell us “A full bar and restaurant is a few feet away from the entrance to the theater.” And you will need it if you stay for the whole thing!

In addition, ticketholders will have access to more than 150 shorts for 30 days so they can re-watch some of their favorites. For tickets go to 2022-short-sweet-film-fest-tickets.
