Later Than Usual, But the Cleveland Seed Bank’s Seed Swap Is Back

Sat 3/5 @ 2-4PM

Yay! The Cleveland Seed Bank’s annual seed swap, which usually takes place in late January, is back after taking off last year for reasons you know well.

This event is about so much more than just swapping seeds — and you don’t have to be a seed saver with seeds (or roots or tubers or ferments) to share to participate. The Cleveland Seed Bank bring plenty of seed packets to add to those saved by local growers so everyone can get what they need to get started.

But in addition to that, it’s a great place to meet and chat with fellow growers, as well as local businesses adjacent to growing and other environment-friendly practices: Praxis Fiber Gallery (which grows plants to make its own dyes), local composting company Rust Belt Riders, Variegate Designs, which creates gardening/plant-related merch, Kannagara Woods Botanical Wildlife Sanctuary and Habitat, and the Cleveland Public Library, which partners with the Cleveland Seed Bank to offer seed libraries at its branches, where you can go and “check out” packets of seeds.

In addition Old Brooklyn’s Coffee, Coffee, Coffee will be there providing the fuel some can’t function without, and Brazilian guitarist/singer/song writer Luca Mundaca will offer some music to browse seeds by. It takes place at St. Patrick’s Church in Ohio City.

Sign up to attend here. Become a member of the Cleveland Seed Bank and you can come an hour early for a more leisurely look at the seeds on offer.
