Kent Short Film Festival Is a Go After Postponement

Sat 3/5 @ 8PM

Kent’s Standing Rock Cultural Arts postponed its 19th annual International Short Film Festival from January. But never fear: now it’s happening at the Kent Stage.

As usual the festival features an array of short films that come from around the world as well as our own backyard. It accepts a vast variety of films: documentaries, animation, music videos, abstract films. Audience members will get to vote on the People’s Choice Award with a cash prize to the winner (there’s also a Juried Choice winner.)

The featured artist this year is last year’s winner: Cleveland’s Donald Black Jr. Black attended the Cleveland School of the Arts and Ohio University before moving to New York to try to make it as a photographer. He soon returned to Cleveland where he’s become active as an educator, leading summer and afterschool programs, and teaching kids about both photography and life. His work, drawing on his experience growing up in inner-city Cleveland has been widely shown in the area; he recently had a show at the McDonough Museum on Youngstown.

Tickets are $10; $5 for students and seniors.
