Kaiser Gallery Show Looks at Alternative Spiritualities

Still from Héloïse Roueau’s “Morgane.”

Fri 2/11 @ 6-9PM

The annual show, Coveted, at Tremont’s Kaiser Gallery, aims to turn around the prevalence of the “male gaze” in art and locate other perspectives.

The exhibit looks at the relationship between women and LGBTQ+ people and religious institutions, how these people have traditionally been excluded, marginalized or demonized by such institutions, and how some religious institutions are taking tentative steps toward being more inclusive. It also looks at how women and others on the margins have gravitated to alternative systems of spirituality, such as the occult, whe women are often leaders.

Artists in the show include Courtney Alnutt, Tanya Kaiser, Natalie Lambert, Vic Liu, Jess Niemeyer and Héloïse Roueau.

The show opens with a reception on Friday February 11 during Walkabout Tremont; stop in as well for a drink at the gallery’s cocktail bar. It will be on view through April 3.
