Damas Eatery

When Somalian Kifaya Mohamed decided she’d had enough of the food business and closed Kifaya’s Kitchen on the Lakewood/Cleveland border, which served her native foods, the space was taken over by another immigrant Yaseen Allaham, a refugee from Syria, who opened Damas Eatery in the summer of 2022 after doing some renovations and adding decor reflective of his native country. And while Cleveland doesn’t have a lot of Syrians, the food it serves is a variation the type of middle east cuisine Clevelanders have become familiar with: tabbouleh, falafel, shawarma, kibbeh, hummus. But it adds its own distinctive spices and flavors.
