There’s no lack of things to do with the kids when they’re off school for MLK Day —assuming they’re back in school, with COVID raging. If you don’t feel comfortable spending the day at an indoor facility such as a museum, there’s North Coast Harbor’s 8th annual Ice Fest, taking place along the pier and inner harbor behind the Great Lakes Science Center and Nuevo Cleveland.
There’s a full day of activities planned, including a display of more than 30 ice sculptures and ice carving demos by noted ice carving artists, many with a Harry Potter theme; meet-and-greets with characters such as the Snow Sisters; Cleveland Monsters slap shot hockey; and free chocolate, cookies and crafts for the kids. There’s also an Ice Fest scavenger hunt. Many of the activities take place at Nuevo Cleveland; all are free.
And if you’re fully vaxxed and willing to wear a mask, admission to the Rock Hall is free on this day as well.
