NEWS: Shaker Heights Arts Council Looking for Artists to Beautify Utility Boxes

Through Fri 3/4 @ 5PM

You know those ugly gray traffic utility boxes you see around town? You may have noticed that some of them have been transformed by artists into colorful scenes and designs — mostly notably around University Circle. (This type of urban beautification has been happening around the country as well.)

Now the Shaker Arts Council in Shaker Heights, inspired by those earlier projects, has announced its Painting the Town juried competition for artists interested in decorating utility boxes located in Shaker Heights. Artists should be 21 or over, and the catch is that you should live or work in Shaker Heights or in reside in the Shaker Heights School district. However, you can also join SHAC; members are eligible as well.

Applications and proposed designed should be submitted by Friday March 4 @ 5pm. For more information and an application go to shakerartscouncil/utility-box-design-competition-application.
