Fri 1/7 @ 5-8PM
The Photocentric gallery on Waterloo has shown (mostly) photo-based work by artists from around the country. But they’re kicking off the year by keeping it strictly local —right in the North Collinwood neighborhood, in fact, presenting a pair of artists whose work in familiar to local gallerygoers.
Tim Callaghan’s distinctive, realistic paintings of quotidian neighborhood scenes, primarily centered around Collinwood, use vibrant colors that makes them alluring and even exotic. These new works on paper focus on vignettes of Collinwood architecture. Photographer Bridget Caswell will be showing some of the results of her ongoing project to shoot portraits of the people who inhabit the neighborhood, exploring the vast diversity of the area’s denizens.
It will open during the monthly Walk All Over Waterloo art walk with the gallery open for visitors from 5-8pm.
