CPT’s Station Hope Looking for Performers/Artists Interested in Taking Part

Cleveland Public Theatre’s annual Station Hope is scheduled to return on Saturday May 28 — fingers crossed, back live at St. John’s Historic Episcopal Church in Ohio City. The event explores and celebrates the historic of the Underground Railroad, where St. John’s was a stop, and the fight for social and racial justice, through art and performances of all types: dance, music, theater, storytelling, installations and more.

It takes place in and around St. John’s, with events inside its buildings, in its yard, and in the street in front of it, while visitors walk around and check out more than 30 short (10-15 minute) performances that are given multiple times throughout the day and interactive installations throughout the spaces.

It’s currently looking for performers, artists, ensembles and organizations to present work around the theme of justice. “Proposals should be bold, inventive, and thought provoking,” they say.

Deadline for submissions is Monday February 7. There’s a lot more information about what they’re looking for here. But if you have questions they’ll be holding an informational meeting on Zoom Saturday January 8 @ 10-11:30am when they’ll share how the event and the application process work It’s en to anyone interested in participating but you must RSVP to India Nicole Burton @ iburton@cptonline.org. If you’re interested in volunteering or providing technical support (set-up, stage managing etc), contact India as well.
