Lightwire Theater provides a very different type of theater that’s designed for family entertainment, and it’s perfectly suited for telling a Christmas-themed story.
All the characters and scenery are created via “electroluminescent artistry” — they’re all formed from lights that move, dance and change shape throughout the performance. The current show, A Very Electric Christmas, follows a young bird who finds himself going in the wrong direction when his family migrates south and ends up at the North Pole where … you can pretty much predict what he’ll find there, but kids are sure to be captivated by the “Dancing toy soldiers, caroling worms and performing poinsettias.” The soundtrack features holiday hits by artists such as Mariah Carey and Nat King Cole and music by Tchaikovsky.
A Very Electric Christmas will have three shows at the Akron Civic Theatre on Sunday December 19. Tickets are $20-$55.
