City streets can be a dangerous place, for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists. More than 350 people are killed or seriously injured each year on Cleveland’s streets.
That’s why the city of Cleveland, Cleveland City Council and organizations such as Bike Cleveland, which has been working for a decade to promote cycling and making the streets safer for bicyclists, are working on what they’re calling the Vision Zero Action Plan. The goal is to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on the streets of Cleveland.
“The plan will be informed by international best practices and local knowledge and will include clear, measurable strategies to provide safe, healthy, and equitable mobility for all,” they say.
They’re currently taking a survey, seeking input from road users to share their experiences and safety concerns they may have. “The results from this survey will be used to understand how traffic crashes affect Cleveland residents and how we can create safe streets together,” they tell us. “Your input will help us establish an inclusive, community-led vision of safety that supports the mobility needs of all of Cleveland’s community members and visitors.”
