Cleveland Public Theatre was once again the site of a Dia de Muertos celebration that featured memorial altars both inside its Church at CPT building and the adjoining lawn, vendors of Mexican arts & crafts, food trucks, musicians and other entertainers, and of course, the colorful procession. Led by current councilperson Jenny Spencer and her predecessor Matt Zone, along with a mariachi band, it wended its way down Detroit to Our Lady of Mt Carmel and the Craciun Berry Funeral Home where the mariachi group ascended to the porch to pay tribute to a memorial altar there. Costumed people of all ages, artists, giant puppets and even a Cleveland Public Library book mobile entertained watchers (some of them made up and costumed) lining the street. Returning to CPT, the procession stopped at the intersection of Detroit and West 65th for a bit of dancing.
